Coffee

(Counter-tops)

Many people use harsh abrasives to try to clean their coffee stains and then find that the stains keep coming back- these can mark the surfaces increasing the odds of the coffee stains returning. Instead try baking soda on a sponge to gently remove the coffee stains. You can also use some oxygen bleaches on coffee stains. Check the directions to be sure that the oxygen bleach is safe for the surface you're cleaning.

An alternate remedy - To remove coffee (and chocolate stains), mix one teaspoon of white vinegar in 900ml cold water. Sponge on stain and wipe clean.

(Fabrics/Upholstery/Carpets)

For most coffee stains you would start with a white paper towel, gently blotting it on the stain to remove as much of the liquid as possible. Then, in a small bowl, mix one-third cup of white vinegar and two-thirds cup warm water. Dampen a clean paper towel with the mixture, blotting on the stain again or if the stain is large, you can pour the mixture into a spray bottle and misting the stain followed by blotting.

If the stain is on white fabric and is stubborn, do the following. Before it is allowed to dry, apply a peroxide solution (20 volume strength 1 part to 6 parts water) and then wash again.
