Scotch-Brite™ Stain Removal Guide
This stain removal guide will cover most of the spills and splashes that occur as part of our everyday lives. But if you have a great stain removal tip we have not mentioned, please contact us. We would love to hear from you, so your comments and feedback are most welcome.
Nail Varnish
(Fabrics)
Clean immediately with absorbent paper or cotton wool. Test a small area first with acetone (not nail varnish remover), if OK, dab on stain using an absorbent pad underneath. Any remaining colour can be treated with methylated spirits followed by washing in a strong detergent.
(Carpets)
Use something metallic and sharp to wedge under the stain (metal toothed comb). Placing a tissue over the comb (push the teeth through) helps to prevent the stain spreading all the way through the carpet. Dab acetone (not nail polish remover) on top of the nail polish and slowly try to work it off. It’s a slow process and will need quite a few cotton balls.
